Grilles Gallery

Used to place HVAC Grille components.

Accessed from the HVAC ribbon:

The following gallery displays which can be left floating or docked to the drawing area.

The following table shows the component options in the gallery along with the key in syntax. Selecting a tool from one of the placement galleries activates the Place Component dialog. The generic placement settings, along with the unique set of dimensional and data properties provide the core workflow used to accurately position equipment components in the model.

Component Placement

Select an option from the Grilles gallery.

You are prompted to pick the duct on which to place the Grill. The duct is specific to the type of grille you are placing (Rectangular grille is placed on rectangular duct etc.) Once you select the duct, the Place Component dialog displays. This dialog is common to all HVAC components and allows you define a component's physical parameters as well as general properties before placement. The dialog remains open throughout the placement process.

In the Place Component dialog's Settings tab, select a placement point to determine which port serves as the placement point for the component. When placing a grille only the Main_Port is the only Placement Point available.

Normally, the HVAC Port Settings tab of the Place Component dialog allows you to define the End Preparations for the ports on the component to be placed. When placing a grille however, these settings are not applicable.

The Design Conditions tab provides fields to define the physical parameters of the component. The field options will vary depending on the type of component being placed.

While enter/changing values in the fields, the component is dynamically updated in the drawing so you can see the changes before placing the component.

Once the component parameter and property values are defined you are prompted to select a placement location along the duct segment. Use the mouse to slide the grille along the duct segment to the correct location and click a data point. To determine the direction the grille face, drag the mouse to rotate it to the correct position then click a second point. Right-click to complete the process.
